on tea

I don't know who Nick Martin is, but he seems to know a lot about tea.

The first mistake most people make with regards to tea is to assume that the tea bags they buy in a grocery store contain tea. This is only true in the most technical sense. Tea bags tend to contain the absolute lowest grade tea available on the market. Thus, they brew terrible tasting tea.

I agree, and have written so on this blog before. In fact, I'd say that you don't have to be a hoity-toity tea connoisseur to know that teabags are for emergency use only. So why is that most coffee shops only offer teabags? Even at Starbucks, which prides itself in serving quality coffees and has even introduced its own words into the American language, they give you a teabag in a cup of hot water and charge you a buck and a quarter.

(Who here knew that ISO had a tea spec?)
